August has arrived, which means it’s about time we make the most of summer in the city. Luckily, there are plenty of ways that’ll liven up your summer days this month, from Miami Spice to dazzling exhibits and live shows. Scroll on to start planning!
1. Eat your way through August at one of these Miami Spice restaurants
It’s our favorite time of the year: Miami Spice returns August 1st with discounted, three-course menus at certain restaurants throughout the city! This year, you’ll be able to enjoy meals from over 150 spots (even ones that have Michelin stars), at $30 and $35 lunch and brunch, in addition to $45 and $60 dinner specials. Despite the excessive heat and rainfall, we’re looking forward to experiencing an absolutely magical summer, thanks to the amazing Candlelight concerts taking over the city! 11. Get lost in Van Gogh’s mesmerizing artworks
Artwork from the iconic post-impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh comes to life in a 360-degree digital spectacle that’ll illuminate and transform the physical space into a fully immersive exhibit. Now through August 14th, you can have the Boy Wonder Pizza, a collaboration between Mister O1 and the Miami Heat’s very own Tyler Herro. The star-shaped pie is filled with ricotta cheese, Italian tomato sauce, fresh burrata cheese, spicy salami calabrese, natural honey, basil and black pepper. We’re getting hungry just thinking about it….
26. Hide away in Miami Lakes’ newest speakeasy
Looking for a hidden spot in the city to get delicious cocktails and dance the night away? Cue in Miami Lakes’ Santa Diabla — an elevated social club serving up fine spirits, cocktails and light tapas. From 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., the vibe takes on the ‘Santa’ part of the name — the music is low, the tapas are flowing and the lights are bit brighter. But once the clock strikes midnight, ‘Diabla’ mode commences: the music turns up, the bartenders start handing out chupitos for all the ladies in the room and the partying begins. A music venue has sprung up in Little River: ZeyZey Miami! Created by the team behind Michelin-rated Los Félix and Krüs, in collaboration with Isabella Acker and Tigre Sounds, the new spot is a music lovers’ oasis hosting live performances every Friday and Saturday, along with vinyl DJs and electric dance parties. 28. Explore Miami’s many museums for free!
There are so many incredible museum exhibitions throughout the city, but one of the best parts is that some of them don’t make you pay for entry! Several museums offer free admission every day or once a month so you can immerse yourself in art and education at no cost. Get ready to slay on August 5th for Drag Race Season 15’s Malaysia Babydoll Foxx’s epic birthday bash. We’re heading into the dog days of summer this August which only means one thing: it’s time to have a tail-waggin’ good time! Journey through the colorful history of street art in the graffiti mecca of Wynwood, where giant wall murals and a thriving arts and culture scene have been painted over a disused industrial district. The exhibit takes you on the rollercoaster story of graffiti, from its demonized roots in ’60s and ’70s counter-culture to the highly respected (and expensively auctioned) art form it is today.
