Wynwood Walls has been named one of the most Instagrammable museums in America by photo wall tiles company Storyboards. And let’s be honest, no one is surprised. It’s quite literally made up of painted, colorful walls!
The Wynwood museum actually secured the title of the second most Instagrammable, not simply due to the fact that every picture of it looks fantastic, but through a special scoring system. Storyboards examined the number of Instagram posts that featured the hashtags of more than 50 popular museums across the country. The site then combined the two most popular hashtags for each museum, before then ranking each museum from most to least Instagrammable.
With that, Wynwood Walls garnered a mind-blowing total of 984,063 Instagram posts. The hashtag #wynwoodwalls accounts for most tagged posts, with a total of 966,693, while the hashtag #wynwoodwallsmiami has been used on 17,370 Instagram posts.
“Visited by more than three million people each year, this outdoor museum features 35,000 square feet of walls painted by street artists from all over the world, including Jeff Soto, Aiko, and Futura 2000. The price of tickets ranges from $5 to $12, and children can go free,” Storyboards wrote.
Wynwood remains in good company with other photogenic museums that rounded off the top five: the Guggenheim Museum in NYC with 967,717 hashtagged posts (#3); LA’s County Museum of Art with 916,965 posts (#4); and The Broad in LA with 491,709 (#5).
Crowned at No. 1, however, was the Museum of Modern Art in NYC with more than 2.9 million Instagram hashtags. Hailed for its “wide variety of modern and contemporary art, including Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ and Salvador Dali’s ‘The Persistence of Memory’”, we think it’s pretty well deserved. That is, with our biases aside.
