
When it comes to art and culture, Miami is pretty hard to beat. There’s never a shortage of things to see, with Art Basel making its art-fueled run every year and colorful murals stretching on for blocks in Wynwood. There are also a number of museums packed with art exhibitions, both ongoing and temporary, that prove the city to be an art lover’s paradise.
As always, we’ve got you so here are some of the most unique exhibitions taking place in Miami that you simply cannot miss!
1. Studio Lemercier: Lightfall

Superblue’s latest installation, Nightfall, takes visitors through a multisensory journey like no other. Created by the Brussels-based Studio Lemercier, you’ll find yourself in a captivating display of light, mist and sound, set to ethereal compositions by electronic artist Murcof. The installation draws inspiration from the Earth’s natural elements of air, water and light, resulting in a dynamic experience.

2. Cey Adams’ Departure: 40 Years of Art and Design

After hip-hop reached its 50th anniversary, Miami’s latest Art of Hip Hop is taking visitors through the history of the genre and the city’s own contributions. This new exhibit at the venue will showcase more than 60 works celebrating visionary artist Cey Adams, from photography archives to fashion and contemporary art. These pieces will present a visual timeline of his artistic journey, as well as a wall installation of more than 50 iconic album covers that he created for artists like Run DMC, The Notorious B.I.G. and DMX!

3. José Parlá: Homecoming
Born in Miami to Cuban parents, José Parlá is known for his large-scale, abstract paintings. This exhibit is split into two parts — viewers will get to see him in action as he paints a site-specific mural for the first iteration, and then they’ll get to see the museum gallery transformed into Parlá’s studio, with paint-covered tables, a Cuban-inspired records and archival memorabilia. You can find his first solo exhibition in his hometown at the Pérez Art Museum right now!

4. Andrea Chung: Between Too Late and Too Early

This solo exhibition by Andrea Chung is definitely one not to miss while at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami. Marking the largest institutional presentation of the artist’s work to date, she explores colonialism as it relates to motherhood, Blackness, the impact of trauma and the imagination. More than 80 mixed media works are on display, including collages, sculptures, videos and works on paper.

5. Laurie Simmons and Peter Wheelwright: The Kaleidoscope (…Bigger) House
Feel free to explore and interact with this life-sized, reimagined Kaleidoscope House! Designed by artist Laurie Simmons and architect Peter Wheelwright, the modernist house has everything you would expect: furniture, a fireplace, open kitchen, dining area, living room, bathroom and two bedrooms, each with a ladder that leads to a loft. If you can’t get enough of the sculpture, you can see the original (and smaller) “Kaleidoscope House” 2001, at ICA Miami!

6. Women Photographers – Shared Documentary Narratives
At HistoryMiami, explore the work of three prominent local women photographers — Maggie Steber, Silvia Lizama and Peggy Levison Nolan — alongside their talented mentees, Elisa Benedetti, RemiJin Camping and Sofia Valiente. This exhibit showcases the profound connections between their works, as they see Miami through their lens. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the artwork, ranging from the 1980s to the present, and interpret the region’s multifaceted identity on their own.

7. Celia Cruz Centennial Celebration

In celebration of the Queen of Salsa’s 100th birthday, Pinecrest Gardens will be filled with the rhythms of 1950s Havana thanks to lively tribute concerts and a special exhibit filled with historical memorabilia of the singer. You can see Cruz’s famous “Cucaracha Dress” as well as photographs from the golden era that offer a look into her life and career! Access to the exhibit is included with a ticket to the Gardens.
