
When it comes to art and culture, Miami is pretty hard to beat. There are also a number of museums packed with art exhibitions, both ongoing and temporary, that prove the city to be an art lover’s paradise.

1. Random International: Alone Together at Superblue

Superblue’s latest installation, Alone Together, invites visitors to become part of the artwork as light beams track and spotlight their movements. Some will be cast in the spotlight while others remain in solitude. Created by the postdigital art group Random International, the experience explores connection and isolation in an increasingly digital world. 2. Waves of Style: Swimwear Through the Decades at HistoryMiami
This summer, dive into HistoryMiami’s newest exhibition on the history and evolution of swimwear. With over 50 swimsuits from the 18th century to present day on display, visitors will get to see how shifting societal norms and cultural influences in each garment parallels Miami’s own beach culture.

3. Michelangelo: Art & Legacy
Step into the world of Renaissance genius, Michelangelo, at this newly-opened exhibition in Lincoln Road! Stand before full-scale replicas of his most iconic masterpieces, from the Pietà to a 360-degree reproduction of the Sistine Chapel, and even try your hand at artistic creation in The Creative Lab. 4. Tomas Vu: Blackstar 16/25/60 at Locust Projects
For all the David Bowie fans out there, this multimedia exhibition is inspired by the artist’s legacy and influence on contemporary culture, taking on his final album’s name. Blackstar 16/25/60 features a neo-futuristic dome and record player with Bowie’s LPs, as well as image and video projections. This is the third and final project of Tomas Vu’s Bowie-inspired trilogy, which will also serve as a space for community activations like workshops, jam sessions, listening parties and more.

5. José Parlá: Homecoming
Born in Miami to Cuban parents, José Parlá is known for his large-scale, abstract paintings. This exhibit is split into two parts — viewers will get to see him in action as he paints a site-specific mural for the first iteration, and then they’ll get to see the museum gallery transformed into Parlá’s studio, with paint-covered tables, a Cuban-inspired records and archival memorabilia. You can find his first solo exhibition in his hometown at the Pérez Art Museum right now!

6. Vickie Pierre: The Maiden is The Warrior at MOCA
This solo exhibition by Brooklyn-born artist Vickie Pierre is definitely one not to miss while at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami. Spanning more than 40 works, from paper collages to paintings, The Maiden is The Warrior explores themes of gender and femininity while drawing connections to her own Haitian culture.

7. AI: More Than Human at Frost Science
As AI continues to grow, this brand-new exhibit at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science explores the evolution of artificial intelligence (past, present and future) through interactive displays and cutting-edge technology. Curated by London’s Barbican Centre, you’ll come across questions like what it means to be human, whether machines will ever outsmart us and how humans can work collaboratively with machines.

8. Transitions: A Blossoming of Identity by Sam Kirk at EPIC Art
In celebration of Pride Month, the 16th floor of the Kimpton EPIC Hotel will highlight the work of Sam Kirk, whose bold art centers historically excluded communities, advocates for social justice and celebrates the beauty of our differences. The award-winning multidisciplinary artist is recognized for her vibrant pieces exploring identity, culture and community. All works in the gallery space are available for purchase.
