Is that nostalgia kicking in? If you were once a Toys “R” Us kid and hoped one day your kids could be Toys “R” Us kids too, there’s some good news: Everyone’s favorite toy store is making a grand comeback before the end of this year!
Macy’s just announced their expanded partnership with WHP Global to bring Toys “R” Us into every Macy’s store across America. Between now and October, the in-store shops will start to appear just in time for all your holiday shopping needs! Some locations will span up to 10,000 square feet for flagship cities like Miami, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Back in 2017, Toys “R” Us filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its U.S. stores the following year. However, the children’s store has attempted to revive its brand ever since by opening with various owners and found success last year thanks to a Macy’s partnership. Toys “R” Us products have been available for purchase exclusively online through Macy’s, but now the partnership will be taken to a whole new level with physical stores.
Shoppers can expect colorful interiors with interactive elements and, of course, a life-size “Geoffrey on a Bench” photo-op with the mascot. All Macy’s locations will kick off the return with a nine day celebration (October 15-23) featuring in-store events, including giveaways and fun family activities.
“Macy’s cannot wait to bring the Toys“R”Us experience to life in our stores,” said Nata Dvir, Macy’s chief merchandising officer. “We hope Toys”R”Us kids of all ages discover the joy of exploration and play within our shops and families create special memories together. The customer response to our partnership with Toys“R”Us has been incredible and our toy business has seen tremendous growth.”
