If you’re a literature lover you have to check out the Old Florida Book Shop in Fort Lauderdale!
Calling all book lovers in the 305! We may have just found the perfect spot for you to check out, especially if you have a penchant for the dark academia and Hogwarts aesthetics. Hidden away in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, the Old Florida Book Shop is straight out of any bookworm’s dream with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, antique maps and rare prints.
William Chrisant & Sons’ Old Florida Book Shop holds over 30,000 volumes of old, rare books, illustrated tomes, vintage magazines, antique maps and basically all kinds of art book you could imagine. There are so many cool ones, I bet there’s at least one dedicated to the Defense Against Dark Arts. If not how would you explain this leatherbound edition that looks as if the Slytherin locket, the Hufflepuff cup and Tom Riddle’s diary had had a child? Suspicious ain’t it?
Magic aside, at this beautiful bookstore specializing in the rare book business you’ll really find some unique treasures including first editions of Huckleberry Finn, Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella. They’ve even got books that date back to the 1700 and 1600s, like this gigantic leatherbound choir book!
Carefully decorated by the owners with dark bookshelves and library lathers, vintage lamps, grandfather clocks, globes and a piano, the shop will transport you to far corners of the Old Continent making you feel like you’ve been whisked away to a cozy, old European library. They even have a cute cat named Bob, who guards the bookstore’s prized possessions fiercely and whom you’ll usually find lounging around atop a stack of books.
Besides buying and selling old books, the bookstore is also open for photoshoots, book club meetings, lectures and piano recitals. So, if you ever feel like hanging out around rare and astounding books or are looking for an awesome spot for your next Dark Academia photo session, make sure to pay the Old Florida Book Shop a visit!
