We’re in for quite a treat! Momi Market, an upscale Japanese eatery, is bringing affordable sushi of high quality to the city. But blink and you might miss it. It’s nestled in between restaurants, shops and other high rise buildings in the bustling neighborhood.
The eatery is fashioned after Japanese marketplaces where customers can come in and sample curated flavors in a casual setting or take out for a quick meal at home or the office. Chef Takashi Terashima created the intimate, brightly lit setting in hopes of bringing Japanese-sourced ingredients and traditional cooking styles to diners seeking the experience.
There’s a sushi bar for you to catch all the action behind the counter and with fish this fresh you’ll be glad to know you won’t break the bank with every visit.
Sushi rolls range from $10 to $22, and donburi bowls in the $18 to $25 range. As expected, Momi’s menu features dishes that are uncommon to most sushi restaurants in the city. You’ll find items like their Hokkaido uni and scallops, as well as their large eye kinmedai snappers from Japan waters.
Don’t know what to order? You can ask Chef Terashima for his recommendations. As an award-winning international chef, he refined his skills in Michelin star-winning Japanese restaurants Yamazato and Sazanka Teppanyaki in Amsterdam, as well as trained under Tokyo sushi experts as an apprentice for more than a decade to acquire “The Art of Washoku” crafting at the most elite level.
Along with the sushi, you can order from their large selection of sake to pair with your meal, as well as authentic snacks and bottled drinks. If you love fresh fish you’ll want to check this place out soon!
