If aliens were to make their presence known on Earth, is there any doubt it would be in Miami? Many social media users have been left dumbfounded after “Miami Mall Alien” began to trend on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
A video showing an aerial view of Bayside Marketplace and heavy police presence has sparked a theory that extraterrestrials were looming around the outdoor mall. Racking more than 10 million views, users claimed to see “8-10 foot tall shadow aliens” when zooming in to the footage, while others noted that there’s “zero chance” we’re in the year 2024 and not a single person took a clearer video.
Naturally, plenty of memes went viral as well.
Despite the claims, the video appears to be of an incident that led to a city-wide emergency call and the arrest of four teens on Monday. As reported by 7 News, a large group of teenagers appeared to set off firecrackers, causing people in the area to panic, and broke out into a fight.
“There were no aliens…. No airports were closed. Nothing is being withheld from the public. LOL,” Miami Police Department PIO Michael Vega told NBC News in an email.
So no aliens in any Miami malls here, folks.
