Since opening in 1967, Marker 88 has become a popular dining spot among locals and visitors for its consistency to fresh fare and, most notably, its unparalleled sunset views.
Located at mile marker 88 on Islamorada, the Florida Keys institution has undergone a 360-degree renovation that began in 2019, leaving several areas of the restaurant open while others looked to be completed.
Now ready to serve crowds in its revamped space, the restaurant has fully reopened this month. Chef Zack Sklar and Owner’s Representative Charles Galvin have collaborated with owners, the Cotton Family, to completely refresh the space, including the dining experience. Its new menu shines light on the rich cultural traditions of the West Indies, Polynesia and French Caribbean.
You’ll find a selection of Caribbean-inspired Curries with a curry paste made fresh in-house, a signature Floridian-style jerk chicken Fajitas served with house-made Roti and Tropical sauces, chilled shellfish, sushi and a classic Key Lime Pie made atop a beautiful brown butter and sea salt crust for dessert.
“This new menu showcases the local ingredients and flavors that have defined this region for centuries,” Sklar said. “We welcome you to step into a culinary experience that is as unique and unparalleled as the Keys themselves and indulge in one of the most magnificent sunsets you will ever lay eyes on.”
Growing in size, but grounded since its humble establishment half a century ago, Marker 88’s beautiful 2.5-acre property boasts two tiki bars serving a range of hand-crafted cocktails, 18 craft beer taps, 10,000 square feet of beach and oceanfront dining, and two boat docks for easy access to boaters.
There’s also a dedicated retail space for merchandise and 14,000 square feet of new event space, perfect for weddings and private events of up to 450 guests.
Marker 88 is now open Monday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. Brunch is soon to launch mid-summer. Click here to visit their website.
