Just in time for the new season, CityPlace Doral has gotten a vibrant makeover for its second annual Day of The Dead – Día de Los Muertos – extravaganza!
Stroll through their main entrance, where you’ll be greeted by a wooden calavera and colorful papel picado banners. Then make your way to their Fountain Plaza, which features an altar of a catrines trio adorned with flowers, marigolds and more.
Hand-crafted by Artistic Elves, sugar skulls can be found all throughout the center, even in front of your favorite restaurant or store!
It’s all to pay tribute to the culturally rich Mexican tradition, which honors and celebrates the lives of loved ones who have died, throughout October and November. The themed celebration will bring the community together through a variety of activities and culminate with a community event.
On Thursday, November 2nd, the center will host the main Day of the Dead event, with everything from face painting and food sampling from local restaurants to performances by folkloric dancers, stilt walkers, mariachis and costumed characters. It’ll run from 6 to 9 p.m. and everyone’s encouraged to dress in theme.
The evening will feature New World Symphony’s “Dia de Los Muertos: A New World Symphony Mobile WALLCAST Concert,” a live performance by NWS Fellows and a prerecorded presentation of concerts performed at the New World Center.
But first, kids of all ages (and also their families) are invited to CityPlace Doral’s seventh annual Kiddo-Ween on Saturday, October 28th. As part of the celebration, which will run from 2 to 7 p.m., there will be trick-or-treating, character appearances, a scary faces photo BOO-th and an amazing Pumpkin Patch station.
Kids can also enjoy a fun zone with a petting zoo, arts and crafts, a toddler zone, story time, Halloween parade, hula hoop contest, music, giveaways and more.
If you somehow can’t make it to either event, it’s a good thing the brightly-colored displays will be up all month-long so don’t forget to visit and snap photos for a totally adorable fall in Miami shot!
Both celebrations are free to attend and open to the public. Click here to learn more.
