Just in time for the season, CityPlace Doral has gotten a vibrant makeover for its third annual Day of The Dead – Día de Los Muertos – extravaganza! Stroll through their main entrance, where you’ll be greeted by a wooden calavera and colorful marigolds overhead.
Then make your way to their Fountain Plaza, which features an altar of a catrines trio adorned with flowers, marigolds and more. Hand-crafted by Artistic Elves, sugar skulls can be found all throughout the center, even in front of your favorite restaurant or store!
It’s all to pay tribute to the culturally rich Mexican tradition, which honors and celebrates the lives of loved ones who have died, throughout October and November. The themed celebration will bring the community together through a variety of activities and culminate with a community event.
On Saturday, November 2nd, the center will host its main Day of the Dead event, with everything from free face painting and food sampling from local restaurants to performances by folkloric dancers, stilt walkers, mariachis and costumed characters. It’ll run from 6 to 9 p.m. and everyone’s encouraged to dress in theme.
The event will feature a special youth performance by the Baila Conmigo Kids Dance School, as well as an “El Mercado” night market for guests to shop and stroll.
Furry friends are also welcome, as pets can meet up at CityPlace Doral’s City Bark dog park. It will be decorated with fun photo moments, a doghouse, dog bone and a fire hydrant for a paws-itively good time!
If you somehow can’t make it to the event, the brightly-colored displays will be up all through the weekend, so don’t forget to visit and snap photos for a totally adorable fall in Miami shot! You can even check out their “Market on the Plaza,” which takes place every Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m., and features handmade goods, sweet treats, street food and more.
