13. Celebrate local jazz with a month of performances at the Betsy
Did you know that April is Jazz Appreciation Month? What better way to honor one of America’s most iconic art forms than at the Betsy Hotel’s 11th Annual Overture to Overtown Jazz Festival? Co-produced by legacy jazz vocalist Carole Ann Taylor, this free celebration of live music, poetry and visual arts will take place within the Betsy and on the Ocean Drive promenade. It will run all month-long, culminating on Jazz Day, April 30.

Jump on a kayak or a paddleboard and go cruising through the Lagoon as you surround yourself with the ethereal blue glow of the glittering waters. Caused by a chemical reaction, bioluminescence is a rare natural phenomenon that occurs when living organisms react to water, lighting it up with an ethereal blue glow. In Indian River Lagoon, near Titusville, there are several places in which to witness this utterly captivating spectacle.

It’s that time of year, y’all. The Miami-Dade CountryFest is back at Tropical Park to host the most farm-themed event of the season. Formerly known as the Miami Agriculture, Horse and Cattle Show, the two-day event will take place on April 15-16 and feature rides, live music, food trucks, a petting zoo, pro rodeo show and other enjoyable activities for adults and children alike.
