Miami is known for many things, from its dreamy views to sandy beaches and multicultural scene to its many food options, iconic rooftops, non-stop nightlife and much more. But have you ever wondered which is the tallest skyscraper?
The answer lies in the epicenter of Brickell Avenue: the Panorama Tower is the tallest building in Miami. Scratch that — it’s the tallest in all of Florida!
The mixed-use skyscraper measures a whopping height of 868 feet (265 m). Completing construction in 2017, the Panorama Tower broke the record as tallest, previously held by the Four Seasons Hotel Miami. It was developed by Florida East Coast Realty and designed by Moshe Cosicher of the AIA, exhibiting 85 stories and 821 residential apartments.
Boasting breathtaking views of the city skyline, its current amenities include lounges and pools, a fitness center, community facilities, office space, retail and restaurants.
Initially, construction on the building was approved in 2006, before being put on hold due to the Great Recession. It was revived in 2012 when Miami developer and owner Tibor Hollo hired AIA architect Moshe Cosicher to redesign the project. Surprisingly, the tower was planned for 849 feet in height.
Meanwhile, the Aston Martin Residences in downtown Miami completed construction in 2022, coming in at 816 feet above ground. This means it follows the Panorama Tower as the second tallest building in Miami (and also Florida).
Here are the five tallest buildings in Miami:
1. Panorama Tower (868 feet)
2. Aston Martin Residences (816 feet)
3. Four Seasons Hotel Miami (789 feet)
4. Southeast Financial Center (765 feet)
5. Brickell Flatiron (736 feet)
While the Panorama Tower takes the cake as the tallest, it won’t be for long. At 1,049 feet and 100 stories, the Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences will tower everything around it once it’s completed. The supertall building — a term used to describe skyscrapers taller than 300 meters or 984 feet — has started construction on Biscayne Boulevard downtown and is expected to be completed in 2027.
Inside, there will be 360 private residences, guestrooms and suites within the luxury hotel, a pool with 360-degree views of the city and much more.
