Severe weather is forecasted to move across South Florida tonight, bringing strong thunderstorms and gusty winds to the region ahead of an approaching cold front.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 1 a.m. Wednesday due to sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 to 45 mph. Miami-Dade County has warned of increased power outages, outdoor items that could be blown around or damaged and dangerous driving conditions.
Tuesday is forecasted to be warm and breezy with a high of around 80 degrees, while a few strong to severe storms are expected at night. Also expected tonight is a potent and active cold front.
Things will be rough on the water as well, with dangerous marine and beach conditions in effect through Wednesday. A gale warning for Atlantic waters and small craft advisories have been issued, as well as a high risk of rip currents and high surf advisory.
This weather follows the news of severe storms that moved across South Florida over the weekend, including a tornado that was seen touching down in Fort Lauderdale.
The good news is that by Wednesday, January 10, wind speeds and chances of rain are expected to calm down. Lows will remain in the mid 60s while highs will be in the low 70s, while Thursday will bring temperatures back into the high 70s.
According to multiple forecasters, a cold front is once again expected to sweep through during the weekend.
