The College Football Playoff National Championship is just around the corner and Miami is getting ready to celebrate in a big way! While plenty of watch parties and free concerts are in store for the weekend, all leading up to kick-off on Monday, January 19, one of the biggest tributes will come from the sky.
If you look up in downtown Miami, you’ll find the 60-story Paramount Miami Worldcenter glowing in honor of the game. The building will feature a 700-foot animated display with logos of the two finalists, a football-passing quarterback and Miami’s Sebastian the Ibis mascot.

Developer Daniel Kodsi of Royal Palm Companies is a University of Miami alumnus and views the tower as a beacon of community support and inspiration.
“Paramount Miami Worldcenter is THAT building. You know, it’s the building in the center of downtown Miami,” Kodsi said. “Whether it’s the Empire State Building in New York or the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Paramount is that beacon in Miami. It signifies you’ve arrived to [the city].”
The $3 million lighting system took three years and 12 technicians to install. It utilizes 13,400 light nodes and five miles of wiring to create 16 million color combinations. But despite the scale, the electrical bill for the display is only $34 per night!

When to see the tower light up
The Paramount Miami Worldcenter will shine from January 15 to 19, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. to midnight. The nightly animations will run every 10 minutes.
