We’re a little over three years away from the FIFA World Cup 2026, but Miami soccer fans have already had their first look into the world’s biggest sporting event around the city, which it will help host.
Miami is among the official selection of 16 host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. As many as four to six matches could take place at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium.
While the 48-team tournament won’t be held until June, last week saw a major milestone with the unveiling of all host city colors and logos after FIFA announced the overall campaign, titled #WeAre26.
On Thursday, May 18, a double-decker bus showcasing the logo, colors, and overall identity that will become synonymous with Miami when the World Cup kicks off, embarked on a county-wide tour. In a pink and blue color scheme, the bus made stops at Lummus Park, Little Haiti Soccer Park, Coral Gables Youth Center, Tropical Park and Kendall Soccer Park, where young soccer players were surprised by legends such as Inter Miami CF captain Gregore and Peru legend Teófilo “Nene” Cubillas.
“We are working together to provide the best experience that this world-class destination can provide to the athletes, officers and fans of this tournament,” said Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, who was among the attendees of the big reveal throughout the county. “Perhaps no other place in the United States can claim our stature as an international hotbed of soccer fans.”
Additionally, a sand sculpture of the city logo was built on Miami Beach, along the 10th Street lifeguard stand.
Several buildings, including Frost Science, New World Symphony and — of course — the Hard Rock Stadium have been lit up in colors that represent the city’s blue waters and pink neon lights.
Of the 16 host cities, there are a total of 11 in the United States: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle. Mexico, meanwhile, has three host cities: Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City while Vancouver and Toronto will host games in Canada.
