
It may be all sunshine and dry time in Miami today, but those of us looking for a little retreat from the heat would be happy to know that a small cold front is headed for South Florida this weekend, bringing with it cooler temperatures and a chance of showers.
Meteorologists predict it might be the last cold front of the season before summer’s arrival, although it is possible for the city to experience cooler fronts as late as May.
The forecast calls for morning and overnight lows into the mid 60s Saturday before returning to the low 80s during the daytime. Sunday morning is set to be the chillest, with evenings for Miami-Dade and Broward in the lower 60s and upper 50s.
These numbers are certainly below normal for the region, but they’re nowhere near breaking records. According to NBC 6 forecasters, Miami and Fort Lauderdale’s record low for Sunday morning comes in at 45 degrees. Now that’s some true sweater weather! Still, it’ll be the coolest numbers we’ve seen in a couple of weeks.
Looking ahead, Sunday’s cool won’t last for very long, as there will be plenty of sun and temperatures warming back into the 80s during the day.
