It’s no secret that Miami loves its coffee, and can you really blame us? The city is known for its unrivaled coffee scene, brewing with shops that will satisfy anyone’s caffeine cravings. And one fan-favorite coffee brand, founded by Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, is joining the mix.
In a recent interview with GQ, the six-time NBA All-Star shared that although he doesn’t plan on retiring anytime soon, it’s always been a dream to step away from basketball and open his own coffee shop, thus bringing the first physical BigFace location to Miami Design District this September.
And yes, he may even work a few shifts as a barista at the shop, but he’ll charge you extra if he makes your brew.
“Ten years ago, it wasn’t my dream to open a coffee brand or open a coffee shop,” he told the publication. “But it was once I got into coffee. The fact that me and my team are able to make my dream come true—I got really good people to work with and collab with. Their vision is just as big as mine, if not bigger.”
A coffee lover himself, reportedly drinking upwards of 10 cappuccinos a day, Butler launched his BigFace brand in 2021. Customers can choose from a range of single and blended-origin coffees alongside apparel on his website. However, his coffee venture goes back even further, when he went viral for selling $20 cups of coffee to his fellow teammates during the 2020 NBA pandemic “bubble” in Orlando.
This new move is an exciting chapter for the brand. Although Miamians have gotten a taste of BigFace Coffee in person before, in the form of truck pop-ups in the neighborhood and downtown Miami or a recent collaboration between the brand and The Salty.
While we wait for September to roll around, you can check out BigFace here in the meantime.
