Big moves are happening for Inter Miami! The MLS team has been selected to play in the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in 2025.
The announcement was made Saturday night, shortly after Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick and helped the team break the all-time MLS record for the most points in a single season. The team also earned the Supporters’ Shield earlier this month.
“We all know how Miami is in love with football and how Inter Miami is supported from across Florida and beyond for your exciting brand of football,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said during a fan and team celebration. “I am proud to announce that as one of the best clubs in the world, you are deserved participants in the new FIFA Club World Cup 2025 as the host club representing the United States.”
He added that the tournament will kick off in Miami, with Inter Miami set to take the field.
“We are looking forward to you hosting the opening match in Miami on Sunday, 15 June 2025,” the President said.
The revamped, 32-team tournament puts Inter Miami as the 31st club that will go head-to-head with the greatest teams in the world. The final spot in the tournament will be awarded to the winner of the 2024 CONMEBOL Libertadores.

The Club World Cup will be held across multiple U.S. venues — including the Hard Rock Stadium — from June 15 to July 3 of next year. Other host cities include Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville, East Rutherford, Orlando, Philadelphia and Seattle.
