Miami Art Week has begun and we’re already starting to see the return of the most incredible art fairs and brand-new artworks appearing throughout the city. But as exciting as it can be to see our neighborhoods dotted with new murals and sculptures, it’s also known as one of the busiest times of the year.
If you’re thinking about how you’re getting around the city during the hectic art week, the City of Miami Beach is launching free water taxis that will transport passengers between the Beach and downtown Miami.
Beginning Wednesday, December 4, four water taxi vessels will sail across Biscayne Bay every 15 minutes, with stops at Maurice Gibb Memorial Park (1790 Purdy Avenue) and the Venetian Marina & Yacht Club (1635 North Bayshore Drive).
The service will run through Saturday, December 7, from 10 a.m. to midnight, and on Sunday, December 8, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Further aiming to help alleviate traffic, Miami Beach is also introducing a series of free shuttles that will link to the water taxis and several art fairs throughout the city. Passengers can hop aboard a shuttle, which will run every 15 minutes and can be tracked in real time on www.artweekmb.com.
Outer Loop shuttles will have two Miami Beach stops: Convention Center Drive between 17 and 18 streets as well as Royal Palm Avenue between 41 and 42 streets. The two Miami stops will be at NE 29 Street and N Miami Avenue as well as NE 38 Street and NE 1 Avenue.
Inner Loop shuttles will travel between the Miami Beach Convention Center, the water taxi stop at Maurice Gibb Memorial Park and Mid Beach.
Meanwhile a Water Taxi Connector shuttle will run between Maurice Gibb Memorial Park and the Convention Center in coordination with the water taxis. For more on the water taxis and shuttle routes, as well as Park and Ride locations, visit the city’s website.
Happy Art Week, Miami!
