Are you a seasoned art collector? Or simply looking for a little creative fix? You’re in luck because Art Basel Miami Beach is set to make its grand return to the city this December. Now in its 23rd year, the spectacular international art fair is set to feature over 280 exhibitors from more than 40 countries. It’s not nicknamed the “Super Bowl of the art world” for nothing!
Solidifying its spot as one of the most important art events of the year, we’ve pulled together this essential guide to answer all your burning questions and make sure you squeeze every drop of excitement out of Miami Art Week:
What is Art Basel?
Art Basel is the world-renowned, global powerhouse of art shows, hosting three major fairs each year: Basel, Hong Kong and Miami Beach. Miami Beach’s fair, which first launched in 2002, is focused on cutting-edge contemporary art. Each year, it showcases hundreds of incredible galleries from across the world, putting them in front of famous curators, museums and collectors. Its explosive popularity has completely transformed the city over the years, giving rise to Miami Art Week, which features tons of satellite exhibits, parties and all other kinds of artistic events.

When is Art Basel Miami Beach taking place?
This year’s Art Basel runs from December 5 to 7, opening from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. For invitation-only VIPs, private viewing days are held from December 3 to 4.
Where’s Art Basel taking place?
The art fair is returning to the state-of-the-art Miami Beach Convention Center, located at 1901 Convention Center Drive.

How do I get into Art Basel?
Of course, you’ll need tickets to get into Art Basel’s main showcase, and they are only available for purchase online through their official website. Miami Beach residents, students, veterans and seniors can grab reduced day tickets (just make sure you bring proof for purchase). There is a limited amount of tickets available for each day, so you’ll want to snag them before the fair to guarantee entry!
It’s important to know that other satellite events and parties around Miami Art Week may require buying separate tickets or an RSVP, so plan ahead!
What to explore at Art Basel Miami Beach
There is a ton of incredible work to see this year, with the main fair brilliantly comprised of several sectors such as:
- Galleries: The floor’s main sector, showcasing masterpieces from leading galleries.
- Meridians: Featuring large-scale projects that transcend the traditional art fair layout.
