Miami Beach may be known for many things, but it certainly isn’t cheap. And recently, one of its zip codes found itself topping a ranking of the most expensive in all of the U.S.
Property Shark just released a report on the priciest zip codes in the country, measured by home sales, with 33109 holding the No. 1 spot. That would belong to none other than Fisher Island, an exclusive residential community located south of Miami Beach and accessible only by air or sea. Some of the A-list residents that have called the small, private barrier island home include Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts and Caroline Wozniacki.
Boasting a median sales price of $9.5 million — up 65% from the past year — the cheapest home on Fisher Island sold for $1.41 million, while the priciest went for nearly $23.7 million.
California’s Atherton (zip code 94027) followed close behind Fisher Island in second place, with a median sale price of $8.3 million. Just one year ago, it held the No. 1 spot as the nation’s expensive zip code. In third, New York’s Sagaponack (11962) took the cake as the state’s most expensive for 10 years, with a $5.9 million median.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Newport Beach, CA; Water Mill, NY; Santa Barbara, CA; Stinson Beach, CA; Los Altos, CA and Rancho Santa Fe, CA. On the bright side, at least Florida didn’t take up most of the Top 10 in the national ranking. That title went to California, with seven of the 10 priciest zip codes located there.
