Nothing gets our ears perked up more than hearing about a new hidden speakeasy in the city. And if you thought speakeasy bars were reserved just for the Prohibition Era, think again. Miami has its fair share of secret hideouts that make us sneak around for our drinks, and the latest arrival is definitely one to add to the list.
Wynwood’s newest spot for Asian-Fusion grills, Niño Gordo, comes straight from Buenos Aires with genre-defying flavors and bold visuals. We’re talking a dining area filled with hanging red lamps and fish tanks, a cartoon-lined bar and a gold room wrapped entirely in mirrored panels.

The spot is kicking its level of theatrics and mystique up a notch as they invite visitors to sneak into their totally secret, cocktail-driven speakeasy known as Dekotora.
Inside Dekotora
Tucked behind a vintage cigarette machine within the restaurant’s red-hued interiors, the bar is inspired by Japan’s decked-out trucks. Inside, you’ll feel as through you’ve been transported to an electric, yet laid-back atmosphere with good energy as you find yourself sitting on one of 12 seats and gazing up at rotating wall projections.

The private enclave is the latest addition to Miami’s sushi scene, offering crudos, makis, nigiris and an omakase experience built around high-quality fish. The menu is led by Chef Carlos García, formerly of Sushi by Scratch, with a minimalist, product-forward selection featuring fish imported from Japan, A5 Wagyu and a rice recipe developed over four years. His style blends refined Japanese technique with creative flair.

The cocktails are just as enticing, with standouts like the Neon Skyline featuring shiso-infused Patrón and Mijenta Tequila, and Electric Midnight with Toki whisky, tamarind, curry, coconut and lime. There’s also the Turbo Mirage, made with Planteray Pineapple Rum, Brugal 1888, matcha, pandan, coconut and pineapple.

We’ll drink to that!
