The Coral Gables restaurant is led by renowned pastry chef Antonio Bachour, who was named Best Pastry Chef in the World by the Best Chefs Foundation in both 2018 and 2022. The establishment itself — with its beautiful outdoor courtyard and glass-enclosed kitchen where you can catch a glimpse of the pastry preparations — has also earned a Bib Gourmand recognition from the Michelin Guide.
But alongside the star baked goods, Tasting Table notes that Bachour serves savory dishes like mushroom flatbreads, fried calamari and baby back ribs. The guava and cheese pancakes are standouts for living up to their rave reviews, and the croissant bread pudding is described as a favorite:
“The croissants get a ton of love from customers, and these are no ordinary croissants. Strawberry and mascarpone, pistachio, dulce de leche, and flan croissants are favorites, along with the croissant bread pudding,” the ranking reads.
As for the only downside, the bakery’s popularity might result in your favorite items selling out by afternoon.
How Bachour made the list
The publication put together the ranking by looking for bakeries that have received mentions or honors from prestigious organizations like the Michelin Guide and the James Beard Foundation. They also sought out establishments helmed by chefs who have trained, studied and worked in France.
A strong commitment to producing traditional French pastries and breads was required, alongside a willingness to put a creative spin on flavors and fillings. Plus, the sourcing of local ingredients was taken into consideration.
