Passengers riding the Brightline will soon have more options when traveling from South Florida to Central Florida, with the railway company confirming its next station in Stuart. The announcement was made Monday, revealing the final choice after Brightline was considering five proposals along the Brightline/Florida East Coast Railway corridor in Martin and St. Lucie counties.
The proposed station location is 2.5 acres in the heart of Stuart’s downtown area, 500 Southeast Flagler Avenue, and just minutes from the city’s beaches. Estimated to cost at least $60 million — a collaboration between the city, Martin County and the railroad — the station would be located approximately 40 miles north of Brightline West Palm Beach, just 40 minutes by train, and easily accessible from I-95, Florida’s Turnpike. What’s more, the Stuart station is conveniently located between the Miami and Orlando stations!
While an exact date is yet to be revealed, Brightline said the station is expected to open in the second half of 2026 which is earlier than originally estimated. The design and engineering of the station, parking structure and necessary rail infrastructure are set to begin, following city and county approvals.
“We couldn’t be more excited to make the City of Stuart our hub for Brightline along Florida’s Treasure Coast,” said Brian Kronberg, Brightline’s senior vice president of development and construction. “It was a difficult decision and we’re grateful for everyone’s support and efforts to make this happen.”
In addition to Miami and its latest opening in Orlando, the train line currently operates stations in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach.
