Sheesh, talk about raining on your parade. The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade, dubbed the “Best Show on H2O,” has been cancelled due to stormy weather.
The fun and festive event in Fort Lauderdale, known as a South Florida holiday classic, was set to fill the waterways with decorated boats of all sizes, spectacular lights and holiday cheer – only for it to be called off. Organizers for the event announced the news on Friday, citing safety for spectators and boaters.
Heavy rainfall and gusty winds have been in the forecast for South Florida, which is expected to continue into the weekend.
The 12-mile Winterfest Boat Parade boasts over a million spectators along the route and is one of several parades across South Florida that has been cancelled or postponed. Others include the Miami Outboard Club’s Holiday Boat Parade and Boca Raton’s Holiday Boat Parade, both of which have been canceled, and the Pompano Beach Boat Parade, which has been postponed to Thursday.
