Although South Florida, especially Miami, is full of countless Christmas trees during the holiday season, one of our personal favorites is the one at The Royal Poinciana Plaza. Taking on a Florida twist, the tree is made entirely of surfboards and features colors, patterns, embellishments and prints that change every year — there’s literally nothing quite like it!
Annually, the lights are switched on during a ceremony that marks the start of the festive season at the West Palm plaza. From then on, the sparkling holiday tree shines brightly, filling onlookers with holiday cheer.
The iconic tree dates back to 2018 and The Royal has partnered with incredible artists every year since then to create new designs for the over-the-top structure in their own style. Artists in the past have included Donald “Drawbertson” Robertson, Gray Malin, Ashley Longhore and Libertine’s Johnson Hartig.
It’s been confirmed that the tree will be back for a grand unveiling on Thursday, December 1 — and this year’s won’t be easy to top. The artist collaboration for this year is businesswoman, interior designer and fashion icon Iris Apfel! And the stunner of a tree is set to be inspired by her own personal style over the years, including bright colors and over-the-top embellishments.

The reveal and ceremonial lighting of the tree will be held December 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. Put on your best oversized glasses and stick around for sips, bites, music, fashion, a special appearance from Santa and, of course, Iris Apfel herself. The tree will stay up throughout the holiday season. For more information, click here to visit their website.
