As the countdown to 2026 begins, some of us may need to make some last-minute dashes out of the house for groceries, party supplies or forgotten essentials. We’ve all been there, but fear not, there will be plenty of supermarkets and major retailers open on New Year’s Eve (December 31). However, some plan to close their doors early to allow employees to ring in the new year.
Here’s a rundown of all store opening times across South Florida:
Supermarkets
- Publix: All locations will open at regular hours, but close early at 9 p.m. Publix pharmacies will also close at 9 p.m.
- Aldi: Open at regular hours, but closing early at 7 p.m.
- Trader Joe’s: Open at regular hours, but closing early at 5 p.m.
- Milam’s Market: Open at regular hours, but closing early at 9 p.m.
- Whole Foods: Open but operating at reduced hours, such as 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check your nearest location ahead of time.
- Winn-Dixie: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sedano’s: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Big box and department stores
- Walmart: Most locations will remain open for regular operating hours. Check your nearest location ahead of time.
- Target: Most locations will remain open, though hours vary by store.
- Costco: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sam’s Club: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- BJ’s Wholesale Club: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Home and other retail
- Home Depot: Open at regular hours, but closing early at 6 p.m.
- Lowe’s: Open at regular hours, but closing early at 6 p.m.
- Macy’s: Open at regular hours, but closing early at 7 p.m. Check your nearest location ahead of time.
- IKEA: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Pharmacies and convenience stores
- CVS: Most locations follow regular hours, but check your nearest location ahead of time.
- Walgreens: Most locations follow regular hours, but check your nearest location ahead of time.
- 7-Eleven: Most remain open 24 hours, though some individual franchise hours may vary.
