Smorgasburg, the largest open-air food market in America, is making its big return to the city this weekend and we’re already salivating. After a brief September hiatus to refresh its space, the beloved Wynwood market is back for another season full of savory foods and exciting events!
Beginning on Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29, Smorgasburg Miami will feature 12 new vendors serving up an eclectic mix of global flavors.
These include Chan Bai Mei (Chinese street food), El Ammar (Mediterranean), Focaccina (Italian), Helado Taiyaki (Latin and Japanese flavors), If & When Eats (Caribbean fusion), Ivy & The Poet (NY-style desserts), Pepe’s Hey Babe (Texas-style BBQ sandwiches and bowls), Professor Snacks (exotic snacks), Tacomiendo (Mexican), The 4th Sister (Guatemalan), The Crepes & Waffle Bar, and Yummy Dumplings (Chinese).
You can also expect fan favorites to make their return — 20 of them, to be exact. There’s The Lazy Oyster, Miami’s first raw bar; Kabuki Soba, known for its yakitori and noodles; La Birrieria Tijuana, specializing in Tijuana-inspired birria tacos; Tio Paella, offering traditional Spanish paellas and bites; and Santo Dulce, delighting guests with their signature halo-shaped churros.
With so many options to choose from, it’s best to arrive hungry!
On top of the delicious fare, there’s an array of live entertainment on offer, such as DJs, traditional Latin dancers, a salsa class, and flower arrangement workshop. One of the highlights to look forward to this weekend is the Best Empanada Competition, in which vendors will compete to showcase the tastiest empanadas, with a live tasting and judging panel.
Before its temporary closure, the food market had become a go-to destination for foodies in the heart of Wynwood every weekend. With so much to look forward to, including more shaded areas to help beat the heat, we’re counting down the days until its return!
