Maybe Red Bull does give you wings…. For the first time in over a decade, the energy drink’s exciting Flugtag competition makes its way back to Miami! Get ready to watch in awe as a whimsical lineup of custom-built flying machines soar — or plunge — off a 22-foot deck.
What is Flugtag?
Red Bull Flugtag, or “flying day” in German, is a competition that dares brave and wacky teams to create, build, and pilot homemade machines with the goal of flying the longest distance over a body of water. According to the brand, it has been taking place for 12 years worldwide and entertaining more than 500,000 people annually.
Competing teams of up to five people cannot use an engine or motor on their flying machines. And while distance is certainly a factor, creativity and showmanship will also be judged by a panel.

When is the Red Bull Flugtag in Miami?
The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 31, 2026. That’s Halloween day, which means we can expect some incredible team costumes!
Times will be released closer to the date.
Where will it take place?
Red Bull’s Flugtag competition will take place at Bayfront Park, 301 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132. If you have a kayak, paddleboard or boat, you can actually watch the chaos right from the water, provided you stay outside the safety/drop zone.
How to compete in Red Bull Flugtag
Applications for interested teams that are ready to let their imagination run wild are currently open. You’ll want to gather the names of your crew, a sketch of what your machine will look like and a description explaining what makes it unique. Previous iterations have seen everything from a flying cheeseburger to Santa’s sleigh launch off the deck.
Each craft must be less than 22-feet wide and no more than 400 pounds, while craft pilots must be at least 18 years old. Find the online application here, which closes on August 21.
