You better check your lottery tickets because it looks like someone in South Florida is a multi-millionaire after playing the Powerball! The jackpot-winning ticket, worth $214 million, was purchased at the Publix at 9050 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami Shores.
It matched all six winning numbers in Monday’s drawing, which were 7-23-24-56-60 and the Powerball at 25. Powerplay was 2X.
This is the third time a Powerball jackpot has been hit this year, with the previous one winning exactly one month ago in Oregon by a ticket worth $1.3 billion.
As of now, no one has officially claimed the $214 million prize and, according to Powerball.com, the cash value is $100.1 million. When the lucky winner does step forward, they’ll gets to choose how they want to receive their money. There’s the annuity option in which they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year, or if the winner opts for a lump sum payment, they will receive an estimated $100.1 million.
The Publix where the winning ticket was purchased also gets to win big! The store will receive $100,000 just for selling the ticket.
The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million. Who knows, you could have passed the winner in the city at one point… or the winner could simply be you! Whoever it is, we’re ecstatic and hope they’re having the best day!
The next Powerball drawing will be held Wednesday night, with an estimated jackpot set at $20 million.
