There’s something new coming to Bayside Marketplace and it’s not, well… aliens. If you’re always up for waterfront views, delicious dishes and a cocktail, you’ll be thrilled to know that Breakwater Hospitality Group and Erick Passo of Black Market Miami are bringing a new, open-air entertainment and food venue. Known for popular spots like Regatta Grove, The Wharf Fort Lauderdale and Carousel Club, Pier 5 joins the impressive portfolio as it opens its doors this week.
If it sounds familiar to you, Pier 5 is named after the city’s most renowned fishing pier, whose history dates back to the early 1900s and stood at what is now Bayside. The historic location was beloved by locals and tourists who enjoyed everything from visiting the fish market to sport fishing.
The new Pier 5 will open every day of the week with fun deck games, shaded lounge areas and an entertainment stage inclusive for all ages. There will be three bars — for the adults, of course — one of which is set to be considered the largest in Miami with over 200 feet of bar space.
Complimenting the waterfront location is the Rum Bar, serving up fresh, tropical drinks like mojitos and daiquiris. If margaritas are more your thing, check out the over 150 types of tequilas and mezcals at the Tequila and Mezcal Bar.
As for food, four already iconic Bayside vendors will be setting up shop at Pier 5 to form an incredible lineup of culinary delights, beginning with Black Market Miami. This local sports bar pays homage to 1980s Miami and offers classic bar food with a Miami twist, from wings to burgers to ham croquetas.
Pizza lovers will definitely enjoy Ben’s Pizza, a slice-only pizzeria with NY style favorites like Ben’s Classic Cheese and the Pepperoni Char Cup Pizza. Even Nicky Jam’s famous bakery, La Industria, will be found at the venue. Its menu features breakfast delicacies including pancakes and French toast, as well as Latin American specialties like malanga croquetas, arepas and more.
And on the dessert side is Skoops, an authentic gelato and ice cream spot. They offer unique flavors ranging from blueberry yogurt to dolce latte that will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Crafted by Saladino Design Studios, the venue’s design is a nod to Miami’s fishing culture with an elevated, contemporary tropical influence. The floor pattern pays homage to a ship’s journey from coast to coast, while the main bar front mirrors vintage boats with smooth curves and brass detailing. The second bar boasts glossy deep blue elements and ribbing details, offering a modern tribute to maritime aesthetics. Upon entering, visitors immediately sense the feeling of being on a ship, with meticulously crafted woodwork defining the main bar front and custom furniture. And of course, unrivaled views of the water.
Pier 5 should be on your radar and you don’t want to miss its grand opening weekend celebrations which will take place Thursday, January 11, to Sunday, January 14. Those who RSVP will receive a complimentary welcome cocktail upon arrival.
Pier 5 is located at 401 Biscayne Blvd in Downtown Miami. It will be open Sunday through Thursday, from 11am – 2am, and Friday to Saturday, from 11am – 4am.
