A new stage production of “The Little Mermaid” has made waves in Miami, with none other than Delaney Benson playing the role of Ariel. Among the attendees during opening weekend was her mother and Tony Award-nominated actor, Jodi Benson, who famously voiced the character in the 1989 animated film.
The full circle moment was posted to TikTok, showing Delaney pulling out a “dingelhopper” and performing “Part of Your World” while Jodi proudly watches on. The video cuts to curtain call, where Jodi can also be seen blowing kisses to her daughter and cheering for the rest of the cast from the crowd.
The user captioned the video, “So lucky to have been able to witness this đ,” adding that it was an honor to watch the two share the heartwarming moment.
The 90-minute immersive production by Area Stage Company, in partnership with Loxen Productions, reimagines the story we all know and love. The under-the-sea spectacular kicked off on July 11 and brings Ariel and Ericâs iconic tale to life all around audiences.
“The Little Mermaid” is set to run through August 11 at Area Stage, newly located at The Shops at Sunset Place. You can learn more on their website.
