Ahead of the full 2023 Michelin Guide Florida selection, which will be released at a ceremony in the city next week, the world’s premier restaurant guidebook has announced eight new additions to its Bib Gourmands list on Thursday. Among the honorees, two Miami restaurants received the recognition.
“The restaurants joining the Bib Gourmand selection prove that foodies can find flavorful international feasts right in their own backyard – in Miami, Orlando or Tampa,” Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guides, said in a press release. “Not only are these establishments unique for their tasty dishes and quality ingredients, but they’re also approachable in terms of price and atmosphere. The inspectors are excited about these additions, and these restaurants teams have a lot to be proud of.”
They are the following:
Downtown favorite Jaguar Sun is an intimate restaurant and cocktail bar serving up “a winning combination of excellent house-made pastas and balanced, creative cocktails,” the Guide wrote. Highlights include the Warm Parker House rolls and Caesar salads to the umami-packed mushroom tagliatelle and spicy strozzapreti with plump mussels, ‘nduja and breadcrumbs.
Location: 230 NE 4th St, Miami, FL 33132
This soul food concept, located in Little River and conceptualized by power couple Jamila and Akino West, is known for its Sothern-inspired dishes. The Guide highlights the restaurant’s brunch stars like deviled eggs with chicharrones, biscuits in guanciale gravy and fluffy banana pancakes with vanilla custard, in addition to “heartier hits” like hot chicken and waffles and fried fish and grits with collard greens.
Location: 7127 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33150
Other Florida restaurants making their debut in the Bib Gourmand selection include Gorkhali Kitchen (Tampa), Isan Zaap (Orlando), Norigami (Winter Garden), Otto’s High Dive (Orlando), Psomi (Tampa) and Taste of Chengdu (Orlando). The full list of Bib Gourmand restaurants can be found here.
The full 2023 Michelin Guide winners will be announced on Thursday, May 11 at an invitation-only event at LoanDepot Park.
