With Easter right around the corner, we can expect vibrant spring parties, egg hunts, brunches and other festivities. We can also expect that Cadbury has found its next Easter bunny. The company recently named the winner of its annual quest, “Cadbury Bunny Tryouts,” and it’s none other than Miami’s own Louie the Raccoon!
The two-year-old pet and social media star made history as the first raccoon to ever be crowned the winner of the contest. And as winner, he’ll have a starring role in the 2025 Cadbury Bunny Tryouts commercial and take home $7,000 in prize money.
Back in 2021, Louie was rescued by his owner, Jaime, after he had been deemed unfit to live in the wild. His hobbies include lounging in his favorite tree and fundraising for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centers by creating art using his toes!
According to a press release, pet owners across the country submitted their own pets for consideration through Instagram posts explaining why their beloved furry (or scaly) friend should be the next Cadbury Bunny. Thousands voted for Louie, beating out dozens of animals such as a rescue cat, mini horse and even a bearded dragon.
While a raccoon might be considered the furthest thing from a rabbit, Cadbury Bunnies have rarely ever been, well, bunnies! Previous winners include Crash the rescue cat, Annie Rose the therapy dog, Betty the frog, Lieutenant Dan the treeing walker coonhound and Henri the English bulldog. All they really need is an adorable pair of bunny ears.
“We’re thrilled that Louie has been chosen as the winner of this year’s Cadbury Bunny Tryouts – we are longtime fans of the Cadbury brand and are honored to see Louie join the long legacy of incredible Cadbury Bunnies,” said Jaime Arslan, Louie’s owner.
We’ll be on the lookout for Louie’s commercial debut next year!
