Every March, thousands of EDM fans from across the globe descend on Miami as the city transforms itself into a “dance music paradise.” With tons of concerts and parties for music lovers to enjoy, this exciting celebration has become known as Miami Music Week. Now in its tenth year, MMW returns from March 22 – 26 with the weeklong marathon of parties leading up to the crowning jewel, Ultra Music Festival. However you decide to spend it, there’s no shortage of musical experiences to partake in. Here are just some exciting ways to celebrate:
1. Epic Pool Parties
From March 22 to March 26, the Sagamore South Beach is playing host to daily pool parties at its iconic art deco pool. For five days of musical fun, the oceanside hotel’s pool party series, titled Epic Pool parties, will include live performances by influential DJs and brands including Defected, DJ Mag and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden. Artists like Acraze, Idris Elba, Eats Everything, Seth Troxler, Danny Tenaglia and more all headline. Miami Music Week partygoers can bask in the towering palms and Miami heat as this luxury hotel becomes an adult playground.
2. SLS & Hyde Beach parties
The SLS South Beach and its sister property SLS Brickell are throwing parties everyday of the week, from March 21st to March 26th. Sigala Land & Friends will kick off the festivities at Hyde Beach Tuesday, with performances by Sigala, Regard, Ship Wrek, and EDX. The Bassrush Pool Party will close out Sunday at Altitude Pool & Lounge, coinciding with James Hype and surprise guests over at Hyde. Other performers during the week include Claptone, MEDUZA, Idris Elba, Oscar G, Sam Feldt, Vintage Culture, DJ Tennis, Joseph Capriati and more.
3. Dante’s HiFi
Dante’s HiFi, the city’s first vinyl listening bar dedicated to the analoging of audiophile music culture is hosting an assortment of global music talent in their intimate Wynwood space. Music enthusiasts can expect authentic, HiFi musical experiences this year from talent ranging from Louie Vega & Eli Escobar, DJ Heather, Salsa vs. Samba and plenty more.
4. Kimpton Surfcomber parties
Several festivities are making a splash at the Surfcomber Hotel, poolside from March 22 to the 26th. Kicking off Wednesday’s festivities is the legendary Café Mambo Ibiza, home of the “most famous sunset in the world,” followed by the Loud Luxury One Day Only Miami, All Gone Pete Tong and Fisher’s Catch & Release parties. The final event is the Galantis Pool Party where the Swedish duo will be joined by Forester, Gianni Blu, Icona Pop, Jonas Blue, Laidback Luke, Letha Blake and more.
5. Spinnin’ Records presents Spinnin’ Sessions
Miami Music Week‘s legendary Spinnin’ Sessions takeover is back at the Nautilus South Beach. It’ll take place on Wednesday, March 22, with DJs Acraze, Dubdogz, Fedde Le Grand, Kream, Lodato, Lucas & Steve, TELYKast and Vinny Vibe, in addition to Alan Walker. Mystery guests are still to be announced, so stay tuned!
6. 12-hour epic party at 8Street Brickell
Brickell’s ritzy cocktail bar is taking part in Miami Music Week with a 12-hour party on Thursday, March 23rd! GotSoul & Sole Channel Events presents, Love is Dope, an epic 12-hour extravaganza featuring everything from EDM to techno to hip-hop to Latin beats. It’ll be full of non-stop music from renowned DJs like Jellybean Benitez, David Harness, Jask, Mr. V, Tony Touch, and JojoFlores. Plus, the party will start at 5 p.m., right on time for 8Street Brickell’s Happy Hour.
7. 1-800-Lucky
Wynwood’s first and only Asian food hall is kicking off the weekend with a ‘Rice & Beats’ session featuring top talent like DJ Snake, Oscar G Katie Ox and Rafa Barrios on Friday, March 24. There’s no cover, first come first serve, except for Saturday’s event, which will feature Grant Grosky, Michelle Lesham, Devon James, Doorly, Heidi Lawden, DJ Heather, Karizma, Roy Davis Jr, Steve “Silk” Hurley, DJ Tennis and Tony Humphries. Dance the night away then grab a bite from one of seven different vendors ranging from sushi and dumplings to ramen and dim sum.
8. Coyo Taco
Coyo Taco is hosting a plethora of local talent for Miami Music Week in its not-so-secret Wynwood speakeasy, ranging from Goldie & Friends on Wednesday (March 22) to Doc Martin Grab on Friday (March 24). Grab an authentic hand-pressed taco (or two) while you jam out or arrive early and enjoy hour specials like half off premium margaritas, beer, wine and select cocktails from 4 to 7 p.m.
9. The Roof at Esmé Miami Beach
Throughout Music Week, Esmé Hotel guests and visitors are welcome to enjoy nightly DJ sets and complementary cocktails by Candela (from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.). The former 1920s artist colony has become a haven for music lovers and this week is no exception. Ibiza-based DJ Hoomance will kick the week’s celebration off on March 21 and DJ Manuvers will close it out on March 25.
10. Ultra Music Festival
And lastly, the event everything is looking forward to: Ultra Music Fest! This epic three-day affair is making its way back to Bayfront Park to celebrate its 23rd edition. Running from March 24 to 26, it’ll bring together some of the best names in the genre with awe-inspiring sets such as Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack, Tiesto, David Guetta, Zedd and Martin Garrix.
Coinciding with the festival is Ultra’s Resistance residency, an underground house and techno concept heading to M2 nightclub in South Beach from March 23-26. This is the first time Resistance hosts a club residency outside of Ibiza, where attendees can look forwards to sounds by Carl Cox, Anfisa Letyago and Charlotte de Witte, among others.
