The highly-esteemed Michelin Guide has once again highlighted Florida’s incredible culinary scene, awarding a slew of restaurants with a star! Five total spots across the Sunshine State were given the coveted honor at last night’s ceremony held at the Four Seasons Orlando. Of course, South Florida was a standout, with one stars going to restaurants in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
⭐️ Miami’s newest Michelin one-star
Midtown’s Itamae AO was one of the many eateries that received one Michelin star during the evening, becoming the 15th total Miami restaurant to hold the prestigious accolade. Led by Chef Nando Chang, a finalist in this year’s James Beard Award Best Chef: South category, the 10-seat counter at Itamae AO serves Peruvian-Japanese fusion cuisine.
“Searing levels of acidity and spice figure prominently on this bold tasting menu, often in the form of leche de tigre. From lobster bisque with sweet potato gnocchi to creamy rice with Hokkaido scallops and parmesan, the cooking possesses style and substance in spades,” the Guide writes.

Alongside the newly announced star winners, it’s worth highlighting that Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach were awarded their first-ever Michelin stars! Chef’s Counter at MAASS in Fort Lauderdale and Konro in Palm Beach, both serving contemporary cuisine, are the eateries that were recognized.
