The Miami Dolphins are officially playing their coldest game in franchise history against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday night. The temperature at kickoff was minus-4 degrees with a wind chill of minus-27 degrees, which the National Weather Service describes as “dangerously cold.”
The weather didn’t seem to bother fans, who even showed up more than 10 hours before the game to tailgate. Among the crowd at the game was Taylor Swift, showing up in a custom coat to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
For both teams, the game is up there as one of the coldest playoff games in NFL history. The infamous “Ice Bowl” between the Cowboys and Packers in 1967, the NFL’s all-time coldest game, had a temperature of minus-13 degrees.
Another game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills that was scheduled for Sunday was postponed due to forecasted high winds and heavy snow.
Coincidentally, the previous coldest game the Dolphins played was also in Kansas City. That game was back in 2008 and the temperature at kickoff was 10 degrees. The Dolphins also won, 38-31.
Seeing as this is a win-or-go-home game, let’s hope the Fins win once again!
