Do mermaids really exist? Or are the captivating creatures merely just a fantasy? Well, the half-human, half-fish beings are the real deal at this Fort Lauderdale bar!
Just 35 minutes north of Miami, you can catch them gracefully gliding underwater through massive porthole windows of The Wreck Bar, a buried treasure shaped to resemble a large ship, at the B Ocean Resort. Hair floating and tails fluttering, they’ll blow kisses to the crowd and flip around while holding their breath almost effortlessly.
Giving a totally new meaning to dive bars, these enchanting mermaid shows were introduced by SwimShow creator MeduSirena. She and her squad of “AquatiCrew” sirens will frolic around in their “natural habitats” around the bar, famous since the 1950’s for its aquariums and appearance taking after a sunken Spanish Galleon. In fact, the spot was once a hangout for famous faces like Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio.
The mesmerizing shows, which include a “Mermaids & Mimosas” brunch on Sundays and adults-only burlesque shows (that also include Aquamen!), are the perfect time to order fresh seafood and tiki-inspired cocktails while you’re there. I mean, where else can you have a meal and a drink alongside living mermaids? The burlesque women bring the sizzle every Friday and Saturday while the Aquamen take on the water on Thursday nights. It’s the only underwater male burlesque show in the U.S.!
There’s also a more family-friendly show for the little mer-folk on Saturdays, “The Coral Reef Mermaid Show.” There’s truly a show for everyone to dive into. Click here to visit their website and find out more.
