Are you ready to zoom down a new kind of water slide at South Florida’s largest water park? Rapids Water Park in Riviera Beach has debuted what’s considered to be Florida’s only dueling water coaster, called Mega Mayhem.
Joining more than 40 slides and attractions at the park, the nearly 54-foot-tall coaster features two flumes that span more than 1,600 feet in length. It takes riders on a two-person raft through twists, high-banked turns and “blast zones” where they’re propelled uphill at high speeds. Additionally, riders speed around four exhilarating giant bowls before racing to the finish line.
If you’d like to see where your “competitors” are in the race, you’ll see flashes of your friends and family throughout the coaster alongside you. Riders must be a minimum of 42″ tall to ride with an adult and 48″ to ride unaccompanied.
Mega Mayhem was designed by ProSlide Technology Inc. and is the largest attraction to ever be built at Rapids, representing a milestone in its 45-year history.
”This ride will you blow you away,” said Bryan Megrath, Rapids Water Park General Manager, in a release. ”The blast zones are incredible, and like no other water ride. This isn’t just a slide, it’s a water coaster, launching you through the twisting turning race course.”
At Rapids, you can also enjoy speed slides, funnel slides, heart-pounding plunges, a 25,000 square foot wave pool, FlowRider surf simulator and the laziest of rivers. After all, the fun is about an hour and a half away from Miami! Find out more details about Mega Mayhem on their website here.
