Miami isn’t exactly known for being the most affordable city, but if you know where to look, you’ll find plenty of ways to enjoy a day out without spending all your cash.
And according to a new study by Bovada Sportsbook, loanDepot park is one of the most inexpensive stadium experiences in the MLB! More specifically, the home of the Miami Marlins is among the cheapest to take on the 9-9-9 challenge.
Chances are you’ve heard of the challenge before: when fans consume nine beers and nine hot dogs over the course of a 9-inning game. Whether you’re brave enough to attempt it or just like doing the math, the cost varies wildly across the country. For example, if you decided to try this out at Dodger Stadium in LA, you’d be swiping your card for a hefty $216.
But at the Little Havana ballpark, you can conquer the challenge for just $73.98, making Miami the third most affordable stadium in the entire league! With hot dogs averaging $3.08 and beers sitting at a reasonable $5.14, there really is no better place to try.
Third-cheapest gameday in the MLB
To find out how much gamedays are actually costing attendees, Bovada Sportsbook calculated the average minimum cost for a full gameday across all 30 MLB stadiums — factoring in a ticket, parking, one beer and a hot dog. The data revealed that you don’t even need to down nine whole hot dogs to experience the benefits of loanDepot park.
Here’s how the ballpark stacks up:
- Average minimum ticket: $17.70 (The lowest in the entire MLB!)
- Average parking: $39.45
- Hot dog: $3.08
- Beer: $5.14
- Total gameday cost: $65.37
This makes it the third cheapest stadium overall, sitting just behind Detroit’s Comerica Park ($52.48) and Denver’s Coors Field ($54.02). To put that into perspective, a day at Wrigley Field for a Chicago Cubs game will run you about $178.75 on average, mainly due to its $107 parking fees.
