A new report by MovingPlace on the “Hottest ZIP Codes in America” has found that Florida is dominating national migration trends, and we can’t say we’re too surprised. Based on millions of residential moves made in March 2026, the Sunshine State has actually claimed the #1 spot in the entire country for moves per capita.
But they aren’t moving to Miami, or South Florida for that matter. Here’s where people are relocating to the most, according to the platform.
What is the ‘hottest’ ZIP code in Florida right now?
That title would go to 34987 in Port St. Lucie, with 12.2 moves per 1,000 residents. Even wilder? It was the only ZIP code in the U.S. to appear in both the top 10 per capita and top 10 total move volume rankings this month.
Following Port St. Lucie at #2 with 11.1 is Aurora, Colorado (80019) and Nashville (37228) at #3 with 10.2 despite sliding from last month’s top ranking. Meanwhile, Texas accounts for four of the 10 entries, with Lavon, Crandall, Austin and Justin.
Why move to 34987?
This marks the first time a Florida Treasure Coast ZIP code has topped the national per capita rankings, and that could be due to its affordability. According to MovingPlace, the median household income in this ZIP code is standing at around $90,201 and median home price at $430,100. Compared to Miami and Palm Beach, that’s a steal.
With a reputation as both a popular retirement community and booming residential hub, Port St. Lucie is home to pristine waterways like the St. Lucie River, spring training baseball with the Mets and plenty of world-class golf, including the PGA Golf Club.
Another top Florida ZIP code
While Port St. Lucie took the gold, it wasn’t the only Florida spot to make top 10 in the report. Coming in at #7 in the country for moves per capita is Inlet Beach with ZIP 32461.
Over in the state’s Panhandle, Inlet Beach is drawing a different crowd, up from 7.7 in February to 8.2 in March. With a median home price of around $947,000, it isn’t exactly an affordable housing haven. But it does prove that the demand for high-end, quiet costal living is holding strong.
How did they determine the results?
MovingPlace’s rankings are based on proprietary residential data from the Porch Group, which assesses areas based on move volume per 1,000 people; total absolute move volume and the largest month-over-month increases. Moves count all inbound destination addresses, even if the resident relocated from within that same ZIP code.
