1. Coral Gables
A great place to catch up on your reading, the cozy Coral Gables Library is one of the city’s most underrated gems. The Spanish-style building features native keystone from the Florida Keys and Honduran mahogany doors, among other characteristics. You’ll find a sizable collection of resources and materials to borrow here, as well as garden walkways that are perfect for a lovely stroll.

2. Branch Main Library
Aside from offering a multitude of resources, this huge library spans two floors and is home to a wonderful art exhibit. Make the most of its free Wi-Fi, reading spaces, printing and photocopying services, and loads of books. Plus, it’s right by HistoryMiami Museum if you can’t get enough of the art on the walls!

3. Northeast Dade – Aventura Branch
Although the city’s libraries boast some pretty spectacular atmospheres, nothing quite compares to the Northeast – Aventura Branch. This modern library is flooded with natural light from its many large windows, which is perfect for reading! What’s more, with thousands of books, audio-visual materials and a 100-seat auditorium, you might want to hurry and get your library card to enjoy all the amazing features this spot has to offer.

4. Westchester Regional
Perhaps one of the city’s more underrated public libraries, Westchester Regional is a two-story haven for literature lovers. Among its rows of shelves and seating areas, you’ll find activities for kids, dance classes, tutoring and much more. Leave time for a stroll throughout the surrounding green spaces and playground, giving you some peaceful time while the kids roam free.

5. Coconut Grove Branch
A quiet space to unwind and lose yourself in a great book, or get some serious studying done, this historic library is tucked amidst lush trees and greenery. Compared to other public libraries in Miami, it may have a smaller selection of books to browse through, but nonetheless has great resources including public computers and a children’s section.

6. Lemon City Branch
As the oldest public library in Miami, Little Haiti’s Lemon City Branch Library is a treasure worth visiting. Opening in 1894 as a reading room in a small cottage, the library would eventually move into its first dedicated building — made of wood planks — just eight years later. In 1964, the library moved again to a new building, where it continues to exist today! While you can still order books from their library catalog, it is currently closed for renovations.
