While beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, there’s no doubt Miami is home to some of the most gorgeous restaurants around. And now, one particular spot has been singled out as one of the most beautiful in the entire world. The annual Prix Versailles has released its World’s Most Beautiful Restaurants list for this year and Japón, a new dining concept nestled within The Setai Miami Beach, has earned a spot.
Each year, the prestigious award ceremony highlights breathtaking establishments from all over the globe that demonstrate a commitment to creativity and sustainability, aiming to inspire high standards in design.
Japón at The Setai
Blending the vibrant cultural heritage of Japan with modern elegance, Japón is the city’s latest culinary gem helmed by Chefs Vijayudu Veena and Ivan Monzon. Its moody space, crafted by Saladino Design Studios, incorporates custom mosaics, porcelain feather tiles, intricate woodblock prints and a gold-leaf ceiling.
Upon entering, guests are greeted by a majestic “Tsuru” crane, a cultural emblem in Japanese tradition symbolizing happiness and good fortune.
The crane, as Prix Versailles highlights,“is at the heart of the design narrative… Its image welcomes diners at the entrance and continues across various materials, from mosaics to fabrics.”
For a more exclusive experience, Japón’s Kyoto Room offers private seating for up to 14 diners. It features its own bar, secluded entrance and a gallery-like collection of Japanese artwork, with several pieces dating back to the mid-1800s.
Outside, a serene courtyard is framed by painted murals enveloped in moss and a striking Japanese pagoda while a water fountain serves as the centerpiece.
“All these details combine to instil the venue with an atmosphere whose charm is as timeless as it is unreal, sumptuously showcasing the diversity and breadth of Japanese cuisine today, exemplified by an extensive sake selection,” Prix Versailles writes.
While the design is certainly worthy of praise, the menu is just as stellar. You can expect diverse Japanese flavors with a modern culinary twist, with standout dishes like wagyu Katsu, tuna crispy rice and Chilean seabass tempura. In addition to a vast sushi and sashimi selection, Japón boasts rare sakes as well as a premier wine list. Cocktails range from the Fuji Blossom to the Wasabi Martini and Suntory Sour.
