Nothing screams Halloween in Miami quite like the arrival of House of Horror Haunted Carnival. But the popular 25-year attraction has announced it is packing up its cursed jack-o’-lanterns and chainsaw-wielding clowns to relocate when it makes its return in September.
After decades of transforming Miami International Mall in Doral for the spooky season, House of Horror will move to Tropical Park this year. Its new chapter was announced in an Instagram post with a caption reading, “NEW LOCATION. NEW RIDES. NEW HAUNTED HOUSES. Who’s ready? 👀”
While details are still under wraps, guests attending this year can expect five new haunted houses, two scare zones, dozens of thrilling rides and, of course, free parking. Last year’s event was billed as its biggest yet, which included the only 3D haunted house in the entire state and over 100,000 square feet of chills — from cursed swamps to psychedelic clown funhouses — alongside its signature fair games.
The event has been a staple of the city’s Halloween season since opening in 2001, calling the Doral mall its home for the majority of its history. Each fall, it would welcome over 100,000 guests as it took over giant sections of the parking lot or the abandoned Sears building.
What sets it apart from others is its rides. Others may charge separately for rides or not even offer them at all, but House of Horror built its brand on offering families and friends unlimited carnival attractions, all included with the price of admission.
