It’s no debate that Miami is known for its pristine beaches, but according to a recent ranking by TripAdvisor, one Florida beach located a couple of hours away from the city is one of the best in the world. Hey, we’ll take it!
In its annual Travelers’ Choice Awards for 2024, the travel reviews site listed Siesta Beach in Siesta Key as the No. 9 best beach, cementing its place in the Top 10. It has a 4.5 rating based on nearly 8,700 reviews.
According to the ranking, Siesta sets itself apart from other beaches due to its wheelchair accessibility, parking spaces, restrooms, concessions and proximity to various shops and lively restaurants. It’s also easy to get to via public transportation. These factors, plus the beach’s clear waters and white sands to play sports or simply admire the sunset, led to its high ranking on the list.

If there’s anything you should really know about Siesta Key Beach is that its sand is made up of almost 100% pure quartz crystals, making it soft and light in color, as well as keeping cool on the feet despite the Florida heat! Beaches are typically made up mostly of pulverized coral.
Also making the best beaches in the world ranking were Portugal’s Praia da Falesia at No. 1 with its red and orange cliffs, and Italy’s unbelievable Spiagga dei Conigli at No. 2. The Top 10 goes as follows:
- Praia da Falésia, Portugal
- Spiaggia dei Conigli, Italy
- La Concha Beach, Spain
- Ka’anapali Beach, Hawaii
- Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos
- Anse Lazio, Seychelles
- Manly Beach, Australia
- Eagle Beach, Aruba
- Siesta Beach, Florida
- Varadero Beach, Cuba
