Miami Design District and ICA Miami are joining forces to bring two surreal inflatable sculptures to the city by celebrated Argentinian artist Marta Minujín.
The whimsical installation, titled Dreamscape, will be setting up residence in Jungle Plaza for two straight weeks in March. It’ll feature two of the 82-year-old conceptual artist’s sculptures, each meant to be entered and explored.

Towering at 30 feet is Sculpture of Desires (2019), a brightly-striped creation composed of intertwined arms that form a luminous blow-up portal. And on view for the first time is Emotional Candy (2025), a labyrinth structure of merging hallways designed to both disorient and delight.
The inflatables are immersive, as onlookers are invited to walk through their interiors into a whirlwind of colors and ambient birdsong recordings. Visitors are also encouraged to whisper their dreams and wishes into the vibrant, undulating forms.

While this marks Minujín’s first large-scale installation in Miami, Sculpture of Dreams has been displayed in NYC, Argentina, Peru and Brazil. The fluorescent patterns reference her early works, such as her multi-colored mattresses from the 1960s. Over her six-decade career, she’s been known for her avant-garde pieces, from The Destruction (1963), in which she famously incinerated her own works, to her iconic Parthenon of Books (1983), a tower made of censored literature.
Marta Minujín: Dreamscape will be on display in Miami Design District from March 18 to 31. An opening night celebration and live performance by the artist herself will kick things off on March 18 at 6 p.m. You can learn more here.
