Michael Jackson with feathered wings slaying the devil, Amanda Lepore posing as Marylin Monroe but in the style of Andy Warhol and a turquoise man with his eyes closed and a beam of light behind him are just some of the many photographs captured by David LaChapelle. With a career spanning over four decades, his vivid and signature surrealist style has not only made his work quite recognizable, but also makes him one of the most celebrated photographers of our time.

Miamians will have the opportunity to experience his incredible images this November at VISU Contemporary. Titled “Vanishing Act,” the upcoming exhibit will open on November 29th and feature over 30 new works, including the world premiere of nine new pieces.
These include Will the World End in Fire, Will the World End in Ice (2025), which explores the tension between nature and civilization through carefully composed still-life photography, and Negative Currency (1990–2025), an ongoing series originally inspired by Andy Warhol’s One Dollar Bill (1962) that newly features currencies from Cuba, Venezuela and North Korea.

Visitors can also expect to see Tower of Babel (2024), Earth Laughs in Flowers (2008–2011), Gas and Land SCAPE (2012–2014), Biombos (1986–2017) and For Men Will Be Lovers of Self & The Sorrows (2021). Altogether, the collection reflects LaChapelle’s signature visual language that merges theatricality, spirituality and social critique.
LaChapelle’s work was last displayed at VISU Contemporary for his 2024 first solo exhibition in the city, “DAVID LACHAPELLE: HAPPY TOGETHER.”

“For a young gallery in Miami Beach to be presenting new, world-premiere works by David LaChapelle is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Bruce Halpryn, owner and curator of VISU Contemporary. “To be one of two galleries representing LaChapelle’s work in the Americas is a tremendous honor, and speaks to Miami’s growing stature as an art world capital.”

“Vanishing Act” will be on view from November 29 to January 31, 2026. VISU Contemporary is located at 2160 Park Ave. in Miami Beach and is open by appointment. A free and public grand opening will take place Friday, December 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., with the artist in attendance.
