When we found out that Daddy Yankee was saying farewell to music, but not without one last tour, we couldn’t contain our emotions. Now that he’s performing one last time in the city, we’re gearing up to say a tearful goodbye.
The “Big Boss” of reggaeton announced the news of his retirement through an emotional message posted on social media earlier this year. In the video, he thanked his audience after 32 years of working in the music industry.
Then the Puerto Rican singer accompanied his announcement with a surprise for fans, releasing Leyendaddy, which he promised gives “all the styles that have defined me in one single album.”
“Hoy les anuncio mi retiro de la música, ofreciéndoles mi mejor producción y mi mejor gira de conciertos… Legendaddy es lucha, es fiesta, es guerra romance,” Daddy Yankee said.
Since August, he has embarked on an international tour, La Última Vuelta, which is a nod to the last time you see him on stage. It kicked off on Aug. 10 in Portland, Oregon and runs through December, finishing with a date in Mexico City.

He’s playing the songs off his latest album and the classics that brought him to worldwide fame such as “Gasolina”, “Rompe”, “Despacito” and more.
So when will be the last time Miamians can see the undisputed king of the musical genre? He’ll be taking hold of the FTX Arena for not just one night this week, but TWO! Daddy Yankee will perform Wednesday, Dec. 21, and return again the following day, Dec. 22, so be ready to send him off in a big way.
Initially, he had two Miami concerts scheduled for the end of August, but the city must have been extra good this year because he’s returning for a second-run around.
The FTX Arena is located at 601 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132. For tickets and more information, click here to visit the FTX Arena website.
