NYC may have a reputation as the city that never sleeps, but we like to think Miami is the ultimate party city after dark. With world-renown nightclubs, endless bars and restaurants to dine in and wild raves going on until the early hours, the bottom line is that the city is not short on late-night things to do.
That’s why it’s no surprise that Miami ranks among the Top 10 in the United States for its nightlife scene in a new study. Although — yes, we know we’re a little biased — we can’t believe it didn’t even come close to cracking the Top 5!
BetMGM analyzed 100 of America’s most populated cities and looked at multiple factors for each one, including the number of bars, average hotel and average drink prices, and activities available. Based on their findings, Miami placed ninth….
Las Vegas landed in first place, with more than 340 bars listed on Trip Advisor and 960 activities to do, from helicopter tours to seeing Cirque Du Soleil at the MGM Grand. Following Sin City was New York City, with over a thousand bars and 1,600 activities to choose from, yet drinks on the pricier side, with average beer prices around $8.
The study then listed Portland as No. 3, followed by San Francisco, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Orlando and Seattle.
In eighth place was Seattle, which offers 41 bars per 100,00 (double the average of all cities 22). In comparison, Miami placed ninth with 611 activities to partake in, offering something for everyone. Hotels also average $160 a night, which is $7 above the average: $153.55.
BetMGM lauded Miami as a “fantastic destination for visitors or residents seeking a combination of relaxation and excitement,” citing its vibrant beaches, glamorous nightlife, and Latin American flair.
“Groups can soak up the sun on South Beach, enjoy beach parties, and revel in the city’s energetic nightlife scene,” the report said.
In the 10th spot was the capital of Georgia, Atlanta, with a thriving food scene, lively music venues, and a rich history. Unlike Miami, its average hotel prices are on the cheaper side ($119), which means there’s more to spend on the 193 activities available or experiencing the city’s 46 spots of natural beauty.
