Bad Bunny is arguably one of the biggest artists in the world right now and in light of his “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” tour announcement, we thought we’d take a look at his Japanese-inspired steakhouse here in Miami — Gekkō. Known for its premium steaks, delicious sushi and a space that blurs the line between a dinner and afterparty, the Groot Hospitality concept in partnership with David Grutman is nothing short of impressive.
With its moody lighting, jewel tones and velvet-y interiors, it has earned a reputation as one of the neighborhood’s’ most fashionable restaurants, attracting the likes of Kendall Jenner, Leo Messi, Alex Consani, Will Smith, and of course, Benito himself.
Located under SLS Lux Brickell Tower, the menu offers up exciting offerings of sushi and sashimi as well as quality meats. Among the incredible creations for diners are the olive-fed filet, 30 day dry-aged tomahawk and the 24K gold leaf-covered Otoro sushi. Oh, and who could resist absolutely delicious cocktails like the Cafécito con Leche or Hani’ Martini?
So, how much can I expect to spend?
Much like other high-end establishments in the area, prices for each dish at Gekkō ranges widely. Shareable plates and appetizers like the famous Japanese milk bread and lobster dumplings will start at around $17 to $36. Maki and nigiri — think spicy bluefin tuna and ora king salmon — will cost you anywhere from $18 to $44. Main courses on the other hand, like branzino or Chilean sea bass, range from $62 to $92.
Now, if we’re talking steaks, you can expect Japanese Wagyu cuts going for as much as $250 or $950 (for a 42 oz. A5 ribeye).
Sides and desserts are typically $18 to $24 each, which means that a modest dinner for two will run you anywhere from $250 to $300 before tip. If you’re going for a more luxurious meal with premium items or Wagyu, some diners report spending closer to $600 or more.
If you’re looking to have Bad Bunny’s favorites, be prepared to splurge because he shared with Food & Wine that the Wagyu crispy rice, lobster fried rice and A5 Tomahawk were absolute must-haves.
