If you rely on daily supplements to manage stress or boost your wellness routine, you might have a recalled item sitting in your medicine cabinet now. A popular herbal supplement sold at Whole Foods Market locations across Florida and online via Amazon has just been recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination.
What is being recalled?
Vitality Works Inc., an Albuquerque-based manufacturer, has recalled one lot of Ashwagandha capsules sold under the Whole Foods private label. The affected products were sold between November 24, 2025 and October 20, 2026. Here are the details to look out for on the plastic bottles:
- Product: 365 Whole Foods Market Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha Capsules
- Size: 120-count bottles
- UPC: 9948252099
- Lot Number: 2025-26227 (printed on the bottom)
- Expiration Date: 10/13/2028 (printed on the bottom)
Why has it been recalled?
Routine sampling of a retail unit revealed that the capsules may be contaminated with salmonella, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals infected with salmonella may experience fever, bloody diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
No illnesses related to the product have been reported to date.
If you find this specific bottle of Ashwagandha in your home, do not consume any and discard the product in the trash. You won’t need to bring the bottle back to the store, just receive a full refund by visiting a Whole Foods Market location in Florida or nationwide with a receipt.
